Caribbean Village Playa Grande. TEL (809) 582-4595  FAX (809) 582-8332. Opened in 1994, the first in Playa Grande, this is an all-inclusive built on a bluff overlooking the mile long beach. The above average accommodation includes amenities such as horseback riding and tennis. Stairs lead down to the beach.

  22. LOCAL ATTRACTIONS:
  23. Gri-Gri Lagoon in Rio San Juan. A 10-minute taxi ride will take you to a guided boat ride through mangrove thickets and crystal clear water. A nature-loverΓÇÖs paradise.

  25. ACCESS TO BEACH:
  26. Keep your car cool (or at least out of the sun) by parking on the eastern end of Playa Grande beach where you can leave the rental under an expanse of palm trees.

  28. QUALITY OF BEACH:
  29. A mile long stretch of wonderful spongy white sand with surprisingly few people. Plenty of room to play. The best section of beach is nearest the hotel on the western end.

  31. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
  32. This fairly-deserted stretch of sand is one of the two best beaches in the DR - the other being Dominicus/Bayahibe. The parking area has about a dozen small shops selling refreshments and food. And though there are some vendors here, they do not hassle the beachgoers.
